Special Programs

Spanish

“¡Feliz Día del Padre!” “Happy Father’s Day!”. In the month of May, we learned about the weather, the sky, and the seasons! We also learned about letters W, U, G, K, & X and the number 10. Our book stories were “Papá, Por Favor, Bájame La Luna” (“Papa, Please Get The Moon For Me”), “Las Estaciones y El Tiempo” (“Seasons and Weather”), and “Sol Solecito” (“Little Sunny Sunshine”). The children loved our songs of the month, which were “La Araña Chiquitita” (“Itsy Bitsy Spider”) and “Estrellita” (“Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”). For the month of June, we will do a review of what the children have liked about the Spanish class as a whole. We will take a break for our awesome Summer Program and we will see you again in the Fall. Happy Summer 😊!!!

Computer Club

In cooperation with “PARCC”, the partnership for assessment of readiness for college and careers, we teach children how to use software to enhance their educational experience. The computer based assessments are in math and English, and begin in kindergarten. These tests are aligned with the Common Core Standards, measuring students at each grade level. To be competitive in a global work force, we begin with software that teaches children to drag and drop symbols, the first step in learning to “code.”
Don’t confuse point and click gaming with the practice of computing and coding. Having access to a computer is not the same as learning computer science. Research shows students learn more when coding together, and children as young as 3 years old are thriving in a small group environment.
Computer Club offers new software each month, with a teacher, skilled in the world of computer technology. We offer a wide range of computers and equipment, along with their applications. Our long term goal is to meet the educational needs of your child and prepare them for their future. It is working, after 20 years, over 90% of our student’s graduate high school as honor roll students, and continue in higher education.

Piano

Piano with Ms. Sandy, the children learn the fundamentals of music. The children are taught to play and read music at their own pace as lessons are one on one. We have a recital with all the children to hear how wonderful they are playing. This is a great learning experience for you child.
